Language Arts Reading is taught using an intensive phonics approach set to music. After decoding skills are mastered, students read award-winning novels and classics in class.
English Vocabulary building, creative and expository writing, literary analysis, grammar, research and study skills, sentence styling and combining are included in the English course of study. The classes participate in a variety of essay contests.
Mathematics The majority of the instruction is based on Ohio’s standards for mathematics as endorsed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. It includes all strands of mathematics: arithmetic, patterns, estimation, probability, geometry, measurement and algebra. Students participate in Math Counts, Math Olympiad for Elementary School and Dr. Math.
History and Geography United States and World History Political, physical and cultural geography National Geographic Geography Bee for 4th through 8th Grades
