Elementary curriculum by  Subject

Language Arts
Reading is taught using an intensive phonics approach set to music.  After decoding skills are mastered, students read award-winning novels and classics in class.

English
Vocabulary building, creative and expository writing. Literary analysis, grammar, research and study skills, sentence styling and combining are included in the English program.  The classes participate in a variety of essay contests.

Mathematics
The majority of the instruction is based on Ohio's standards for mathematics instruction as endorsed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.  It includes all strands of mathematics: arithmetic, patterns, estimation, probability, geometry, measurement and algebra. Several WLCL students have qualified for State Math Counts.

History and Geography
United States and World History
Political, physical and cultural geography

Science
Emphasis on scientific method
All areas explored
Several WCLC students have competed in the state science fair.

Music and Art
Taught by specialists.
Exposure to appreciation of the arts, historical as well as skill-oriented.
Spring and Christmas full-scale musicals performed with entire student body.

Bible and Chapel
Taught directly from the Bible
Non-doctrinal approach
Bible Fair second semester

WCLC students have qualified for State Science Fair, State Geography Bee, State Math Counts, State History Day and the National Spelling Bee.
