Gross Motor Area-An excellent area to help children develop socially cooperative behavior as well as improve their skills.  Some equipment used would be balance beam, climbing apparatus, trampoline, balls, etc.
Housekeeping and Dramatic Play-This is one of the children's favorite areas.  Dress-up clothes, props, puppets, dolls, etc. are used to help children explore their world and work cooperatively with one another to solve problems.
Blocks-A wide variety of blocks are available for children to build their own world.  This area helps children experiment with shapes, size and space relationships.
Library-A quiet corner for exploring literature.  There are books for everyone including picture books, classics, and cassette tapes for listening.
Language Arts and Visual Center-Puzzles, folder games, and many other child-directed materials are available.  This area emphasizes visual discrimination and perception skills such as patterning and matching.  Opposites, rhyming, and sequencing are some of the language skills we practice.
Math-Numerals, number concepts, shapes, and size are some of the areas the children explore.  They are presented with a variety of material to use in direct experience such as sorting, comparing, and ordering.
Science-Science activities are centered around observation, comparison, testing, and questioning.  Children have an opportunity to explores natural objects with magnifying glasses, scales, etc.  We often have specific experiments available such as sprouting seeds, gardens, or color mixing.
Art-Creative, open-ended art experiences using a wide variety of media are emphasized.  Imagination and creativity are encouraged through different techniques.
